Film Seizure #426 – Obsession

It’s spooky month! This year Film Seizure will be delving into the horrors that aren’t necessarily ghost, goblins, and slashers, but some higher brow stuff. And what are we starting with? Why the movie everyone talked about this year – Curry Barker’s Obsession.

  1. Really glad you’re doing elevated horror for spooky month — it’s a fun change of pace from the usual creature features. I finally watched Obsession last month and what stuck with me was how little of it relies on jump scares. Barker builds the dread through small behavioral details, the way obsession quietly takes over someone’s daily routine, until the ordinary feels wrong. It reminded me a lot of Midsommar in how it makes daylight and calm spaces feel unsafe. Looking forward to hearing which film you’re tackling next in this series.
