  1. The review of ‘It Was Just an Accident’ is the first review I’ve ever heard for a Jafar Panahi picture that has made me want to see the movie, not because the movies sounded bad, but because they were badly reviewed, in the exact grammatical sense: the reviewing was done poorly. They were like Criterion’s descriptions of movies, where after reading, you have absolutely no sense of what the movie is like; you just have a 250 word think piece on it. Reviews of his movies are usually positive reviews of him, with a little bit on the plot or subject of the movie, and an urge to go see it. But what’s the movie like? Is it engaging? What kind of engaging? Is it disengaging, but in an interesting way? Is it disengaging, and you, Ms. Film Critic, like the thought of a bunch of alienated viewers ‘wrestling’ with the film, but deep down you’re also bored?I now want to see ‘It Was Just an Accident’ because I now know what it’s like, how engaging it is and so on. It sounds like it might actually be a really good movie.Thank you for doing a proper review.

    2. “I love the way he leans.” Knew it immediately, because that show is still very good. He’s been coasting on that (more than his Oscar) through every movie since Fight Club, which most of us now want to reenact on a daily basis.
